THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Georgetown's Rice Museum is said to be haunted by the spirits of former workers and visitors, with reports of apparitions, footsteps, and unexplained sounds echoing through the historic building.
Housed in the Old Market Building at 633 Front Street, the Rice Museum is one of Georgetown's most recognizable landmarks. Built in 1842, the structure has served as a market, town hall, courthouse, jail, and museum. Paranormal reports include disembodied footsteps on the upper floors, voices when the building is empty, shadow figures, cold spots, and apparitions believed to be connected to the building's long history. Staff and visitors have described feeling watched while exploring the museum after hours.
