The historic Calumet Theatre opened in 1900 and remains an active performing arts venue. Its best-known ghost tradition involves acclaimed actress Helena Modjeska. A story dating to 1958 describes actress Adysse Lane seeing or sensing a woman believed to be Modjeska during a performance. Other reported phenomena include unexplained cold breezes, music heard without an apparent source and apparitions within the theater.
