THE STORY
Reported Haunting
After many graves were relocated from the Old Catholic Cemetery, some remains reportedly could not be recovered. Local lore describes voices and cries coming from the wooded former burial ground.
The Old Catholic Cemetery served Marquette's Catholic community beginning in 1861. When a new cemetery was established in the early twentieth century, many burials and grave markers were moved, but historical accounts indicate that some remains could not be located and were left behind. Local residents have since reported hearing voices or cries coming from the wooded former cemetery, particularly during strong winds.
