THE STORY
Reported Haunting
One of Britain's most notorious poltergeist cases began at 30 East Drive in 1966, when the Pritchard family reported unexplained knocking, strange substances and puddles appearing inside the home, objects moving or being thrown, electrical disturbances, and increasingly violent physical attacks. The activity became especially associated with daughter Diane Pritchard, who was reportedly dragged, struck, and otherwise terrorized by an unseen force. Witnesses also described a tall, dark-robed apparition that became known as the Black Monk of Pontefract. Later folklore connected the entity to a monk supposedly executed in the area centuries earlier, although that identification has not been firmly established historically.
Ghost Atlas has a published record for this location, but a full narrative has not yet been added.
