A mysterious ghost light is said to appear near Land's End Road on St. Helena Island, where locals believe it is connected to the spirits of those lost at sea.
The Land's End Light is one of Beaufort County's oldest ghost stories. Witnesses report seeing a floating light moving along the roadway near the waterfront before suddenly disappearing. Legends variously attribute the light to the ghost of a sailor, a woman searching for a lost loved one, or spirits connected to shipwrecks that occurred off the coast.
