THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The historic Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas has long been associated with ghost stories and unexplained activity. Guests and staff have reported unusual encounters within the century-old hotel, including tales of apparitions and other mysterious occurrences.
This 1912 hotel is home to many spirits, according to the local lore. Among them are a sad bride who was said to be jilted in the 1930s and hanged herself–she haunts the 19th floor. Witnesses have seen her apparition, and with it heard her sobbing and the sound of a music box. Another hotel haunt is a woman who was a regular bistro customer whose death didn’t stop her from visiting her favorite haunt, so to speak. Also reported here have been episodes of people being touched by unseen hands, windows flying open with blasts of cold, footsteps (although the floors are now carpeted), feelings of being watched, and the sound of swing music or distant pianos.
