THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Staff members at the museum believe sculptor Albin Polasek's spirit remains close to the artwork and gardens he loved. One unusual 1997 photograph reportedly showed what appeared to be a tear suspended on the face of one of the sculptures. The unexplained image and the feeling of a lingering presence have contributed to the museum's haunted reputation.
This museum was founded in 1961, and is home to more than 200 sculptures by Czech artist Albin Polasek. Many staff members feel Polasek’s spirit still infuses the place, refusing to leave his beloved sculptures. In 1997, one guest snapped a photo of a tear miraculously suspended on the cheek of Jesus on Polasek’s “Stations of the Cross.” The staff had no explanation for how it got there.
