THE STORY

Reported Haunting

All Hallows by the Tower (historically called All Hallows Barking) is the oldest church in the City of London and is famous for the legend of the "Lady in Black".According to London church folklore, the manifestation dates back to a specific evening in December 1920. A choirmaster and two young choirboys were rehearsing a few days before Christmas when an elegant, elderly woman dressed entirely in black materialized just eight feet away from them.

As the oldest church in London, it should be no surprise that this one has a haunted reputation. A boy’s choir practicing in the 1920’s were surprised to see an elderly woman stop by and watch them. The choirmaster had thought he locked the doors… and was even more surprised to learn he had. The ghost of a cat is also reported here.
