THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The ruined mansion's extensive ghost lore includes:The White Lady: The hall's most famous apparition is believed to be the spirit of a former owner's mistress who died during childbirth. She is frequently seen pacing the crumbling walls, and in 1970, a driver reportedly drove straight through her translucent form on the road outside the hall. The Hanged Serving Girl: The historic stable block and staircase are the epicenter of intense poltergeist activity, allegedly haunted by a young maidservant who tragically hanged herself. Ghost hunting groups have captured disembodied laughter, murmuring voices, and overwhelming feelings of choking in this area. The Library and Cellars: Visitors frequently document the distinct smell of phantom cigar smoke, scraping sounds, and heavy knocking vibrating through the floorboards. The Black Dog & Phantom Children: Investigators on the property—which was prominently featured on the television series Most Haunted—have captured audio of ghostly children playing and spotted a spectral black dog roaming the grounds.

Two ghosts named Elizabeth and William are said to be here. A ghostly fog has also appeared in photographs.
