THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Visitors to Launch Complex 34, where the Apollo 1 crew died in a 1967 fire, have reported eerie sensations and occasional claims of unexplained voices, screams or apparitions.
Launch Complex 34 was used for Saturn I and Saturn IB missions during the Apollo program. On January 27, 1967, astronauts Virgil "Gus" Grissom, Edward White II and Roger Chaffee were killed when a fire swept through the Apollo 1 command module during a ground test. The launch complex is now preserved as a memorial. Paranormal accounts associated with the site include intense feelings of unease, unexplained voices and, in visitor reports, screams or apparitions associated with the lost Apollo 1 crew.
