The property once occupied by the MGM Grand was the scene of a devastating 1980 fire that killed 87 people. The hotel later became Bally's, and guests and employees have reported apparitions, unexplained sounds, and other activity sometimes attributed to victims of the tragedy.
In 1980, 87 people died after a fire broke out here (the hotel was the MGM Grand back then). Most of the victims perished on the upper floors due to smoke inhalation, but probably remain here. Guests and employees have reported seeing apparitions of many people, but are usually bluish in color, seem disoriented or confused, sometimes are accompanied by the smell of smoke.
