THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The 1856 lighthouse's primary paranormal activity includes:The Ghost of John Jeffrey: The structure's most famous spirit is believed to be a dedicated lighthouse keeper who served for roughly 40 years. Caretakers and visitors routinely report hearing the heavy, disembodied thud of his boots trudging up the spiral lighthouse staircase as if he is still making his nightly rounds.Poltergeist and Tactile Activity: Multiple resident caretakers have documented a rocking chair moving rhythmically on its own in empty rooms, and tourists exploring the lantern room have reported the distinct sensation of invisible hands touching their shoulders.Tsunami Residual Spirits: Local folklore states that following the catastrophic 1964 Alaska earthquake tsunami that devastated the surrounding town, the stranded keepers began witnessing phantom entities and wet footsteps coming up from the dark, jagged rocks below, believed to be the lost souls of shipwreck and disaster victims drawn to the beacon.
Believed to be haunted by a former lightkeeper. People claim that they can hear him ascending the spiral staircase. People have also reported the sensation of being touched when no one is present and caretakers who have stayed there claim that something moves objects at night. There is also a rocking chair that the ghost appears to enjoy sitting in.
