Reported Haunting
Campbell's Store is reportedly haunted by former owner James Campbell, whose apparition has been seen standing at the far end of a hallway before suddenly vanishing. A young man is also said to have drowned in a well at the rear of the property. Although the original well has since been removed, visitors have reported being pushed or moved by an unseen force in the area.
Built in 1835, Campbell's Store was a popular stopping place for travellers in the Hunter Valley. Paranormal reports include the apparition of a former owner and unexplained physical contact near the site of a former well.
