THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Blair House, the official presidential guest residence, has long been associated with reports of paranormal activity. Witnesses have described apparitions, unexplained footsteps, mysterious knocking, and ghostly voices within the historic mansion. Several accounts claim spirits connected to the house's former residents continue to wander its halls.

Now a complex of four connected townhouses and the official state guest housing for the President of the United States, the historic Blair House was built in 1824 for Joseph Lovell, eighth Surgeon General of the United States Army. It is said that the ghost of President Woodrow Wilson has been seen in a bedroom rocking chair.
