THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Boca Raton luxury resort is allegedly patrolled by the peaceful ghost of its legendary original architect, Addison Mizner, who is seen wandering the hallways to watch over his crowning achievement. Guests and staff also report encountering the spirit of Esmerelda, a 1920s resort employee rumored to have tragically perished in an early property fire. Her nearby presence is routinely signaled by a sudden, comforting cold breeze and the distinct, phantom scent of fresh roses.

This 1926 hotel was originally the Ritz-Carlton Cloister Inn. Its spirit lore boasts of a ghost named Esmerelda, a former hotel maid who died in a 1920s fire. Other ghosts may reside here as well.
