THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Bourbon Street Grille in Dahlonega, Georgia—housed in the historic 1880s Hall Hotel building—is plagued by active, low-level poltergeist activity. Staff and patrons have frequently reported hearing the jarring crash of phantom dishes shattering in empty rooms and unexplainable disembodied footsteps pacing the two floors. Most famously, back when a portion of the building operated as an art shop, a decorative chessboard was routinely found with its pieces neatly lined up down the middle of the board or completely rearranged overnight.
Ghost stories abounded when this building housed Gabee’s Cajun Kitchen and the Art Cart. Witnesses heard phantom dishes shatter and disembodied footsteps, and chess pieces moved on their own. At the Art Cart stood a chessboard handmade from gourds, with the pieces made to look like Muslims and Christians. One day he found the pieces lined up down the middle of the board, and another day they stood around the edge of the coffee table.
