THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The historic buildings of the Brewery Arts Center have been associated with reports of paranormal activity. Visitors and staff have described unexplained footsteps, mysterious sounds, apparitions, and other unusual occurrences believed to be connected to the property's long history.
This 1874 theater was originally built by the Carson Brewing Company, producer of Tahoe Beer. It is rumored to be haunted by maintenance worker James P. Maar, who appears as a polite and eloquent gentleman in a brown-checked suit and yellow tie. His voice has been heard offering assistance in various matters, such as reminding employees to turn off the lights and lock the doors, and visitors have said they felt a presence watching them.
