THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Brockton Villa Restaurant in La Jolla, California—housed in a historic 1894 beach cottage overlooking the cove—is subtly haunted by its second owner, Dr. Joseph Rhodes, who tragically died in a boating accident. Staff and owners frequently experience minor poltergeist disruptions, reporting that physical items routinely vanish and reappear later in strange, highly peculiar places. Diners and employees also report a heavy, palpable energy and the distinct feeling of a lingering spectral presence watching over specific areas of the restaurant.
It is believed that Dr. Joseph Rhodes, a physician who died in a boating accident, is still here. Objects commonly disappear and reappear in other places throughout the building.
