THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Busby Stoop Inn in North Yorkshire, England, is infamous for its "Chair of Death," which was cursed by a murderer named Thomas Busby on his way to the gallows in 1702. Legend says that anyone who dared to sit in his favorite chair would face a sudden, horrific death, a curse linked to dozens of subsequent fatal accidents involving RAF pilots, builders, and patrons. The terrifying artifact was eventually moved to the Thirsk Museum and bolted high to a wall to ensure no one could ever sit in it again.
Thomas Busby was hanged for his crimes, but always loved his seat at this location. After his death, anyone who sits in this chair meets an untimely and always tragic death; the chair has been hung on the wall to prevent anyone from accidentally sitting in it.
