THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The California Theatre in San Jose, California—a beautifully restored 1927 movie palace—is haunted by a deeply nostalgic, phantom entity nicknamed "The Opera Ghost." This theatrical spirit is frequently spotted by performers and stagehands wandering through the backstage dressing rooms and catacombs, clad in elegant, early 20th-century formal attire. The historic theater is also heavily plagued by classic auditory poltergeist activity, with late-night staff routinely hearing the grand Wurlitzer organ play completely on its own, accompanied by the distinct sound of phantom applause echoing through the entirely empty auditorium.
A man and a little girl have been seen here. Employees and theater-goers sometimes get an eerie feeling when they are here.
