THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Camberley Gunter Hotel is famous for the unsolved death of Oscar-winning screenwriter William Desmond Taylor, whose body was discovered in one of the hotel's rooms in 1922. Guests and employees have reported unexplained footsteps, ghostly apparitions, and mysterious noises believed to be connected to the tragedy. The hotel remains one of San Antonio's best-known haunted landmarks.

Although no body was ever found, a blood-soaked room indicated that something had gone seriously amiss at the Camberley Gunter Hotel. Legend has it that a woman was murdered there in the 1960’s and an unsuspecting maid walked in on the murderer as he was escaping out the fire escape of the blood soaked room. The woman is said to haunt the hotel to this day.
