Local legend surrounding Magnolia's former Cameo Theatre includes reports of an unseen presence, a restroom stall door opening by itself, unexplained interference with projection equipment, and occasional apparitions.
The former Cameo Trio Theatre in downtown Magnolia has developed a modest paranormal reputation. One firsthand account describes an unsettling presence inside the building and a restroom stall door reportedly opening on its own. Other Arkansas paranormal accounts have attributed unexplained interference with projection equipment and occasional apparitions to the former theater. The Cameo opened in 1949 and later operated as the Cameo Trio and UA Cameo 3 before regular movie-theater operations ended. Because the paranormal accounts are primarily anecdotal, the haunting is best preserved as a local legend.
