THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Capitol Theatre's resident ghost is known as Shorty. For decades, performers, technicians, staff and patrons have reported unexplained activity and fleeting shadowy figures within the historic theater.
Yakima's historic Capitol Theatre opened in 1920 and has accumulated decades of paranormal stories involving a resident spirit known as Shorty. Performers, technicians, employees and audience members have reported unexplained happenings and fleeting shadowy figures throughout the theater. The legend has become such an established part of the building's history that the Capitol Theatre itself hosts "Shorty's Tours," taking visitors through historic and normally restricted areas of the century-old venue.
