THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Carey's Magnificent Mercantile occupies part of the historic Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge building and has become a destination for paranormal investigation. Investigators have reported unexplained sounds, possible voices and other unusual activity inside the building, although the identity and history of any alleged spirits remain uncertain.
Carey's Magnificent Mercantile is an antiques and oddities shop located within the historic Masonic building on North Market Street in Mount Carmel. The property has attracted paranormal investigators, with investigations and ghost-hunting activity documented inside the building. Reports associated with the location include unexplained sounds, possible voices, unusual movement and other activity interpreted by investigators as paranormal. Because detailed historical claims about individual spirits at the property are not well established in readily available sources, the site is best documented as an active paranormal-investigation location rather than attributing the haunting to a specific named ghost.
