THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The former Carson City Mint, now part of the Nevada State Museum, has been associated with reports of paranormal activity. Visitors and employees have described apparitions, unexplained footsteps, and other strange occurrences believed to be connected to people who once worked in the historic mint.

Carson City Mint – Nevada State Museum is a site believed to be haunted by spirits from its past. The mint opened in 1869, and in 1872, a worker named Osborne Parker was crushed to death in the basement when equipment fell on him. And Abraham Curry, a mint superintendent who died in 1873, also is believed to linger here in spirit. Witnesses report footsteps, an elevator that works by itself, and a friendly presence.
