THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Historic Cary House Hotel in Placerville, California, is famously haunted by a mischievous 1860s front desk clerk named Stan, who was stabbed to death on the property and is notorious for pinching the behinds of female guests. Room 212 is heavily plagued by the mournful spirit of a Gold Rush-era horse and wagon operator, while Room 220 is known to host the tragic "Weeping Widow," an entity so active the room is rarely rented out unless explicitly requested. Guests also routinely report classical poltergeist activity throughout the 1857 building, including the historic lobby elevator moving up and down between floors completely on its own.
The ghost of a man is said to haunt the lobby and some people claim a cat is haunting room 220. It is said there are four separate ghosts in the building, but specifics are hard to come by so you’ll just have to go check it out and see for yourself.
