A ghostly mystery began here in the 1850s centered on the lighthouse’s first keeper, Captain Johnson, who had passed away in the building. A moaning and screeching sound heard in the evenings was said to be the Captain Johnson’s ghost, but 50 years later was proved to be the sound of the structure’s metal settling and cooling in the evenings.
