Reported Haunting
Castillo San Cristóbal is associated with centuries of military history and numerous reports of paranormal activity. Visitors have reported shadow figures, unexplained footsteps echoing through the tunnels, and ghostly soldiers appearing along the fortress walls. Many believe spirits connected to the fort's long history still patrol the grounds.
A doomed romance between a thief and an executioner’s daughter ended with both of them hanging (the daughter committing suicide over the loss of her lover). The pair are rumored to be here, as well as soldiers that have mysteriously disappeared. When it was still in use, nightwatchmen would call out to each other “alert” to signal that they were still there. Sometimes, there would be no response and the soldiers would never be seen again (at least, not living).
