THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The abandoned Cedarcrest Regional Hospital in Newington, Connecticut, is steeped in ghost lore stemming from its dark past as a tuberculosis sanatorium and psychiatric facility. Trespassers and paranormal investigators frequently report hearing heavy doors slamming shut on their own and disembodied footsteps echoing through empty, peeling hallways. Though heavily fenced off and actively patrolled by police, the site remains famous for unsettling disembodied voices that cut through the silence of the shuttered complex.
Cedarcrest Hospital was demolished in 2013; the map shows where it was located. Folks say the early 1900s mental hospital was haunted; witnesses have heard screams and doors slamming and seen orbs.
