THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Central City Opera House in Colorado is famously protected by the ghost of Billy Hamilton, a 1930s caretaker who mysteriously vanished but returned in spirit to watch over the theater. Staff and actors frequently encounter his presence backstage near the traditional "ghost light," a single glowing bulb kept lit to keep restless entities at bay. The historic 1878 venue is also said to be haunted by a phantom woman who softly whispers the grisly details of her unsolved, historical demise to anyone listening closely in the dark auditorium.
This historic opera house was the first in town, and is haunted by at least three ghosts. These include a former doorman, an actor who drank himself to death and a long dead female patron. Staff claim to occasionally smell alcohol and cigar smoke when no one is around, and various instances of poltergeist activity have been reported.
