THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Chalmers Mansion near Ebbetts Pass is said to be haunted by the spirit of Antoinette "Nettie" Chalmers, the wife of the home's 19th-century owner. Local legends claim her grieving ghost wanders the isolated mountain road, forever watching for her husband, who abandoned the family after his silver-mining venture failed. The eerie atmosphere is amplified by a small pioneer cemetery near the house that contains the graves of Nettie's children, including a son who reportedly drowned in the nearby creek. Visitors have described sudden cold spots, the feeling of being watched, and strange shadows moving near the property's historic brick chimney.
Ghost Atlas has a published record for this location, but a full narrative has not yet been added.
