Reported Haunting
The historic Cherokee County Courthouse has been associated with reports of unexplained activity. Visitors and employees have described mysterious footsteps, unusual sounds, and other strange occurrences within the courthouse, contributing to local stories of a lingering presence.
Previously the city’s hospital, the courthouse is believed to be haunted. Folks have reported the sound of the jail door closing when no one is there, and the sound of a hospital gurney being rolled across ceramic tile has been reported even though the areas have been carpeted or tiled in quiet linoleum.
