Stories associated with the isolated roadway include ghostly hitchhikers, strange lights, mysterious creatures, the Ghost Boy Bridge, and phantom vehicles. One particularly persistent legend describes a dark or black truck that appears suddenly behind motorists, aggressively tailgates them, flashes its headlights, and sometimes seems to chase vehicles along the road before mysteriously disappearing.
