THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Columbine Victorian Hotel is one of Gunnison's best-known haunted buildings. Guests have reported the apparition of a woman in Victorian clothing, phantom footsteps, and unexplained noises throughout the hotel. Staff also describe doors opening on their own and objects moving without anyone nearby.

This hotel was built at the turn of the twentieth century, and served as living quarters for railroad executives. In Room #009, a suicide took place several years ago. Guests have reported hearing a knock on the door, only to find the hallway empty. Other have reportedly heard ghostly voices. The other haunted suite is Room #014, where guests have seen the apparition of a woman, and have felt cold spots.
