THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Two holes in this ancient column are said to have been made by the Devil's horns, and visitors reportedly sometimes smell unexplained sulfur nearby.

The Column of the Devil stands outside the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio. According to legend, Saint Ambrose battled the Devil and caused his horns to become embedded in the stone pillar, leaving two visible holes. Amy's Crypt notes that some visitors also claim to smell sulfur around the column, contributing to beliefs that a supernatural presence may linger there.
