Reported Haunting
The Country House Restaurant is said to be haunted by a woman named Annette, whose cries have reportedly been heard inside the historic house. Witnesses also describe unexplained electrical disturbances.
The historic house occupied by the Country House Restaurant dates to the early eighteenth century. A local legend tells of Annette Williamson, who allegedly cared for the property while British soldiers occupied the area during the Revolutionary War. According to the ghost story, she was accused of aiding the British and killed. Her spirit is said to remain in the house. Reports include a woman crying out, unusual electrical activity and lights dimming or failing without explanation. Stories also suggest that later occupants interested in spiritualism may have encouraged additional paranormal activity.
