THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Crossett Railroad Tracks in Crossett, Arkansas, are famous for the "Crossett Light," a legendary spook light that bounces along an old, abandoned rail bed. Local folklore states the glowing, baseball-sized orb is the swinging lantern of a railroad worker who was decapitated in an accident and now endlessly paces the tracks searching for his missing head. Witnesses report that the multi-colored light sways from side to side, rises into the treetops, and floats toward onlookers before vanishing into thin air whenever someone tries to get close to it.
A ghostly swinging light appears to be walking up and down the tracks here. Locals say it is the spirit of a man who was hit by the train and was decapitated. His ghost is searching for his head. It is said that folks who are standing on the tracks will see the light coming toward them. It will disappear when it gets close, then reappear on the other side of them, continuing on his way.
