Hickory Springs Church and its adjoining cemetery have been part of Tift County for generations. Local ghost lore describes mysterious red and white lights that allegedly appear near vehicles traveling around the cemetery, strange screams or animal-like sounds from the surrounding woods, and a story involving an altar Bible that supposedly could not be moved during an attempted disturbance.
