THE STORY
Reported Haunting
South Carolina folklore associates the former Daisy Bank plantation on Cat Island with a phantom tied to a tragic tale of a planter's daughter, her infant child and a forgotten family graveyard.
Daisy Bank was one of the historic plantation properties on Cat Island in Georgetown County, where archaeological and structural remains of former plantations survive within what is now protected wildlife land. South Carolina ETV preserves the folklore story known as The Beautiful Phantom of Daisy Bank: a young woman marries a sea captain, dies shortly after the death of their newborn child, and is placed in a glass-enclosed coffin at her grieving husband's insistence. The tale jumps forward many decades to the rediscovery of an overgrown family graveyard, followed by frightening supernatural events and a phantom presence. ETV explicitly presents the story as folklore and makes no claim that the dramatization is historically authentic. The coordinate is an approximate historic-site marker on Cat Island rather than a surviving public plantation house.
