THE STORY
Reported Haunting
This historic building in New Castle, Delaware, is known for persistent poltergeist activity that historically startled its overnight guests. Witnesses have documented heavy doors slamming shut on their own, dramatic temperature drops, and the distinct sound of invisible footsteps pacing the upper hallways.
David Finney Inn used to be a bed-and-breakfast, but reports say it is no longer in business. The 17th-century inn was built across the street from David’s father’s home, now the Amstel House Museum. An underground tunnel connected the two. A ghost who is thought to be one of the family members haunts both residences. The presence seems to favor the third floor of both houses, where it opens and closes windows and doors and moves objects.
