Local legend says the Devil accidentally split the rock at Devil's Kitchen after spilling a drop of a boiling brew. The unrelated Booger Jim story from the submission was removed.
Devil's Kitchen is a narrow rock passage at Caesars Head State Park surrounded by colorful local folklore. One traditional story says the Devil was brewing a hot concoction on the mountain when a spilled drop split the massive rock apart. A natural explanation attributes the formation to repeated freezing and expansion of water within cracks in the rock.
