Dogtown is the remains of an abandoned colonial settlement spread across a large wooded area between Gloucester and Rockport. The community declined during the nineteenth century, leaving cellar holes, old roads and scattered remnants behind. Local folklore has long associated Dogtown with strange encounters, witches, apparitions and an eerie atmosphere.
