THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Downieville River Inn & Resort (historically operating as a boarding house in a Gold Rush town) is subtly haunted by the spirit of a former resident. Guests staying in Room 1 frequently report typical poltergeist activity, including water faucets and fixtures that mysteriously self-activate and turn on completely by themselves. The most unsettling encounter involves male and female guests waking up in the middle of the night to the distinct, terrifying sensation of this invisible spectral entity climbing directly into bed right next to them.
Allegedly haunted, possibly by its former owner dating back from the goldrush days. Reports are that a ghost likes to climb into bed with you at night.
