THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Dunleith Historic Inn is famous for reports of the ghost known as the "Lady in White." Guests and staff have described apparitions, phantom footsteps, doors opening on their own, and unexplained voices throughout the antebellum mansion. The inn remains one of Natchez's best-known haunted destinations.

Dunleith Historic Inn was built in 1855 and sits atop the site of John Routh’s 18th-century plantation Routhlands. It is said to be haunted by the apparition of a woman who plays the harp.
