The Whitney has decades of reports involving apparitions, shadows, unexplained sounds, moving objects and unusual electrical activity throughout the historic mansion.
Completed in 1894 for lumber baron David Whitney Jr. and his family, the David Whitney House is now one of Detroit's best-known restaurants and historic mansions. Paranormal stories have circulated since before the building became a restaurant. Guests and employees report apparitions, shadow figures, unexplained sounds, objects moving and lights operating on their own. The Whitney openly embraces the stories and currently offers late-night paranormal tours.
