THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The former mortuary building housing Kells has produced reports of unexplained moving objects, breaking glass, mysterious handprints and apparitions, including a child and a man in old-fashioned clothing.
Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub occupies part of Seattle's historic Butterworth Building, which was constructed in the early twentieth century as a mortuary. The building's unusual past has contributed to a long-running paranormal reputation. Staff, patrons and investigators have reported unexplained activity including objects moving or falling without an obvious cause, breaking glass, unexplained handprints, and apparitions described as a young child and a man dressed in older clothing. The location has also been investigated by paranormal television programs.
