THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The historic Egyptian Theatre is reportedly haunted by former preservationist Irv Kummerfeldt and a mysterious spirit called Bob, with footsteps, moving objects, opening doors, apparitions, and unexplained touches reported throughout the building.

The Egyptian Theatre opened in 1929 and is one of the few surviving Egyptian Revival theaters in the United States. One reported spirit is Irv Kummerfeldt, a founding member of the organization that preserved the theater, who died after suffering a heart attack near Aisle One. Another entity, nicknamed “Bob,” is said to roam throughout the building. Staff and visitors have reported apparitions, echoing footsteps, objects moving without explanation, doors opening by themselves, and unseen hands tapping people on the shoulder.
