THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce occupies Placerville's historic Fountain & Tallman Museum building, one of the city's oldest surviving structures. Staff and visitors have reported apparitions, unexplained footsteps, and mysterious noises believed to be connected to Placerville's Gold Rush era. Paranormal investigators have documented unusual activity throughout the building.
This site of this 1923 building was formerly the location of a hangman’s tree, and is rumoured to be one of the creepiest places in town. Staff working in the building have reported encountering a bearded man dressed in black peering over the staircase, and staring down into the street at night. Other reports indicate that staff and visitors have suffered asthmatic attacks despite having no previous history of the illness and that sightings of a man in green overalls accompanied by cold spots have occurred on several occasions.
