Reported Haunting
Exeter Cathedral has accumulated centuries of ghost stories throughout its long history. Visitors have reported apparitions, phantom footsteps, mysterious chanting, and shadow figures moving through the ancient cathedral after dark. Many believe spirits connected to clergy and former worshippers remain within the historic building.
A monk and a nun are thought to have fallen in love and then chose to commit suicide to remain together. Both spirits are seen here, long after their deaths in circa 1400.
