THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The former Far Western Tavern building is said to be haunted by the ghost of a 1930s patron known as Mr. Franconeti. Witnesses have reported hearing the distinctive sound of footsteps resembling someone walking with a peg leg, particularly on the building's second floor.

Rumored to no longer be in existence at this site, the old Far West Tavern was said to be haunted. Witnesses have heard the sound of footsteps with a peg-leg, said to be the ghost of a 1930s-era guest named Mr. Franconeti. According to the story, the man lost his leg in WWI and was caught in the building when it went up in flames. He couldn’t find his artificial leg in time to safely get out. He died in the fire, and a cold spot is said to remain in the corner of the room where his ashes were discovered.
